Offering four theme parks, two water parks, more than 25 resort hotels, and endless entertainment, it can be tough to plan a trip and feel like you’ve cover all your bases. As someone who lived in Orlando for 13 years and only just moved away in 2026, I know all the local advice I’d give to Disney vacationers, whether it’s their first visit or their 100th.

Best Time to Visit Disney World

Disney World is open year-round, but each season offers a different experience depending on crowd levels, weather, and special events. My personal tip? Avoid Summer. I know that’s the easiest time away from school & work, but it’s also the hottest and most crowded. You’ll spend more time in queues than anything else.

Spring

Spring brings beautiful weather and seasonal events like EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival. This is my favorite time to go. As long as you avoid spring break window, the crowds are pretty small too.

Summer

Summer offers extended park hours and special entertainment, though crowds and Florida heat are at their peak. Prepare for 60+ minute queues and daily rain showers ~1 hour in length.

Fall

One of the most popular times to visit thanks to EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival and Halloween events. There's also Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween. Despite this, crowds can be pretty low in September and October.

Winter

The holidays at Disney are magical, with decorations, seasonal treats, and festive entertainment throughout the parks. This is another crowded season, but worth it. I absolutely love the atmosphere in winter.

You can visit the themed resorts even if you don’t have a reservation for them.
